FINISHED!!! See below for process

This doorway used to be a broom closet with the door facing into the front hallway. Since all but three walls around it were removed and it had to built out on one side, I always thought it was a waste of space. Therefore, I decided to remove the uprights and create a wall pantry. It’s location being close to the stove would be great for storing cookbooks and spices.

After removing the upright 2X4’s, we glued (instead of screwed) a piece of drywall to the back of the pantry as we would have had nothing but plaster to screw it in to.

I then cut 1X6 boards to support the drywall on the corner as the ducting did not allow for the drywall to otherwise be supported.
